Would I Pay More for Ethically Made Fashion?

Standard

Absolutely!

I want to know where it comes from. The person who made it. Their Families , and support them for doing what they love. It is about what they, the Artisans have learned through cultural generations.

I want to be able to tell my children that the People matter. From every walk of life. I want to be that person who put on her new comfy of shoes, or that new necklace was made by skilled hands. And that they are getting a fair and equal wage for their pieces of Art. In all forms.

We as a people have the right to know where our products come from, whether it be  : Fashion, Art, Crafts, Food or Drink, and everything in between.

Let’s all make a change in the world and for the better.

Would you pay more for a Ethically made or Fair wage piece of Fashion?

No, I’m not ok

I’m not ok.

I heard the news after I came back from baseball with my sons. Three fallen police officers, Mounties, killed by some kid with a hate-on for cops.  Two more in the hospital.  A whole community threatened (still threatened as I write this…)

I responded like anyone would.  Shock, but then relief that it wasn’t anyone we knew.  Then gratitude for the life my family has, tossed in with some serious denial that this could ever happen to my husband.  Then I thought I was “good to go”.  I thought it was ok to watch the news, ok to wait for updates, ok to tuck my kids into bed, and to finally go to sleep.

But I didn’t want to sleep. I watched the news.  I saw the unnecessary image of an officer’s blood on the pavement.  I watched grown men cry, giving news briefs, heartbroken.  I read Facebook – saw the…

Milestone 1

Standard

Isobel's Creative Spaces

A little more than a month ago, I started writing my first novel. It’s been quite an accomplishment for me to sit down regularly and work away at it, let alone focus for this long on any one thing. I guess the wonderful thing about novel writing is, in the first draft anyway, you can never be bored (If you are bored then you’d better rewrite because you’re doing something terribly wrong). The characters take on almost a life of their own and you start living an adventure in your head that seeps out through your fingers, onto the keys, and onto the computer screen. I have made it to my first milestone: 10,000 words! How am I celebrating? I’m continuing to write. Onward and upward, I say! 🙂

Light Spectrums

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
The structure used in poems varies with different types of poetry. The structural elements include the line, couplet, strophe and stanza. Poets combine the use of language and a specific structure to create imaginative and expressive work. The structure; used in some Poetry types are also used when considering the visual effect of a finished poem. The structure of many different types of poetry result in groups of lines on the page which enhance the poem’s composition.

The poems in “Light Spectrums” uses at least half a dozen poetry forms including Haiku’s, Tanka’s, Triolet’s, Shadorma’s, Sonnets, and Acrostics.

I received a free copy to review based on the poems, and my thoughts on the book itself.

Light Spectrums: A Collection of Poetry by Jessica Fuqua, had a few poem’s that I really did love, entitled Butterflies; If My Heart were a Flower; Dandelions

Those were indeed my favorites throughout the 25 poem’s she has released.

Also this book of poem’s could be the start someone off into reading, simple yet elegant and to the point.

As I have read and started working on Days 1-7 I had a lot of time to reflect on myself, from what am I really passionate about to looking deeper into my soul to find out who I am; What I really want to become.

As I  sit here on this Tuesday Morning watching the sun rise, while having my first cup of Joe, I ponder, what is next to come for me.  When I was a child I dreamt of becoming a Hairstylist and a Vet. I did indeed follow my path on becoming a Hairstylist, I love how I can make a person feel great about themselves  by the way they look and feel. Plus have great conversation while doing so.

I can not seem to pass up reading a great book. It has to have a plot, and be very detailed.

If I were to play hooky for a week from work I would love to find myself on the beach in Adagir, Morocco. It’s beautiful! Basking in the sun, having a few drinks. Walking around the marketplace ( souks ). Taking everything in that I could. I can see myself there while I am in a hot air balloon. My dream is to visit exotic and new places.

If I were to make a homemade gift I would use Love, Glue and lots of Vibrant colors. I did get to do this while on vacation to my family’s cottage in Point Clark, Ontario over the family day weekend.

Now these things were based on my personal life. Next thing is to apply the things that I learned from days, 8-14 on my business/entrepreneur side.

You can also tag along with me by getting yourself 39 day Lifescape : Become a better you. Just click on the highlighted words to purchase your own book 😉

Until Next week 😉

Are you insecure? Worried all the time? Are you happy? What can be better and what can you work on?

Just a few questions I want to write down for now.

I am not insecure, I don’t worry all the time ( maybe just a little) , I am VERY HAPPY! 😉  I want to work on my organization skills, along with opening up my heart for others to see and feel.
